I know I’m not going to feel great if I consume them too often and I go with that. It’s no different than a dessert in my book. When I’m with friends or family celebrating is when it’s most worth it. While I don’t have drinks every day or even every week at this point, I do enjoy cocktails in my Food Freedom when it’s worth it. And you know what? It tastes better that way too. I approach a cocktail in the same way that I approach a meal or the food I eat I like it to be minimally processed, using whole, fresh ingredients and low on the sugar. Well, first off moderation but I’m not here to yap about that, let’s talk about what’s actually IN our drinks. Let’s talk about cocktails and drinking and how that can still fit into a healthy diet and lifestyle. That’s totally normal, right? I love fresh, summery and not-too-sweet drinks in the warm weather and this margarita really hits the spot. Just really wherever your favorite place is. These are all perfect for enjoying on the patio with friends, or by the pool. Here are some other margarita recipes for you to try, if you’re not into the spicy thing! Combine both in a small saucepan over medium heat, and stir until the sugar is dissolved into the water.Combine both into a glass jar, seal with a lid, and shake to combine.Combine one part sugar with one part hot water, and mix until dissolved. The heat in this drink needs a thoroughly integrated sweetness, so simple syrup wins this battle. Why? While agave is delicious, it sometimes doesn’t blend with other liquids as well as simple syrup. I usually like to add agave to my tequila-based drinks, but we are using simple syrup in this one. It’s simple, it uses 100% fresh squeezed juice, and a touch of simple syrup. I tested a few different versions of this recipe, and this is the winner. What is in this serrano grapefruit margarita? Use two thin slices of jalapenos instead of the one slice of serrano if you go that route. You’ll still get the heat, but it won’t be nearly as intense. Either way, with that being said, please proceed with caution! □ Can you substitute serranos with jalapenos for this recipe? YES! Absolutely. They can be upwards of ten times as hot as a jalapeno, but usually they’re about three times as hot. ![]() Serranos are spicy … like really spices in some cases. It’s super easy to make, and incredibly (but spicily) refreshing.Īre serrano peppers spicier than jalapenos? If you like heat in your drink, you’re going to love this serrano grapefruit margarita! It combines spicy serranos, sweet simple syrup, tart grapefruit and lime juices, and sweet orange juice with blanco tequila. ![]()
